The San Francisco 49ers announced yesterday that they have signed two players to the team’s practice squad as both T Donald Hawkins and TE Brian Leonhardt were

Hawkins originally entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free-agent in 2014 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was later waived by the Eagles only to be picked up by the Cleveland Browns two days later before being waived again five days later and picked up by the Dallas Cowboys.

Hawkins eventually solidified his spot on the Miami Dolphins practice squad this season before being released on Nov. 13.

Leonhardt is also an undrafted rookie free-agent who broke into the NFL with the Oakland Raiders. He spent the entire 2013 season on the team’s practice squad before starting three games for the Raider Nation in 2014. In that season Leonhardt recorded six catches for 35 yards and one touchdown.

The success in Oakland was short-lived however, as Leonhardt was released by the Raiders before being signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad on October 20.
